Presenters Emily Janes (Los Angeles City Attorney's Office) and Dorian Karp (National Domestic Violence Hotline) walk through accessibility, coercion, victim safety, and healthcare access considerations for the prosecution team.

In-Person Training: What You Do Matters: Lessons from the Holocaust
Thursday, September 17, 2026 · 8:45 AM–4:00 PM · Washington, DC
Developed with historians at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, this full-day program traces how police and prosecutors in Nazi Germany moved from protectors of the public to instruments of state violence between 1933 and 1942 — and turns that history into a direct conversation about ethical leadership in the profession today. Participants spend the morning on a docent-led tour of the Museum, then join facilitated discussion and training in the afternoon.
The Museum's Permanent Exhibition closes to the public in January 2027 for a multi-year rebuild, so this is a limited window to experience it as part of the program. $75 members (code WYDM25) / $100 general.

November 4–6, 2026 · Portland Metro Area (Vancouver, WA)
In partnership with the Animal Legal Defense Fund, APA is bringing together prosecutors, law enforcement and animal control officers, and veterinarians for three days of hands-on training in identifying, investigating, and prosecuting animal cruelty and animal fighting cases. $75 members / $100 general.
Travel scholarships available: The April Demanss Scholarship, funded by ALDF in memory of our beloved colleague, offers $500 (fly) or $300 (drive) to help qualifying attendees get there.

Presented with the Quattrone Center for the Fair Administration of Justice, this summit brings prosecutors together with researchers and justice system innovators to discuss emerging strategies and field-tested approaches shaping the profession today.
Call for Presentations is open now — we're especially interested in sessions sharing original research, practical tools, or field-tested innovations, from conviction integrity and AI in prosecution to diversion, discovery obligations, and prosecutor wellness. Submission deadline: September 11, 2026. Notifications by September 25, 2026.
