Subject to applicable taxes, withholdings, and County policy.
- 50% paid on the next regularly scheduled pay date after the first day of employment
- 50% paid after one year of County service

Position Summary
This is an entry-level prosecutorial position representing the State of Washington in District Court. The role focuses on misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor cases, with opportunities to expand into juvenile, felony, or civil commitment matters as experience grows. All work is performed in compliance with legal requirements, professional ethics, and established office policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Prosecute misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor criminal cases in District Court
- Manage a high-volume caseload
- Review cases and file criminal charges
- Negotiate plea agreements
- Prepare and present cases in court
- Collaborate with law enforcement throughout case development
- Advise and communicate with victims and witnesses
- Perform all duties in accordance with legal standards and office policies
Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Entry-level eligibility to practice law in Washington State
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with law enforcement, victims, and witnesses
- Commitment to ethical practice and professional standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest or experience in criminal prosecution
- Strong courtroom presence and advocacy skills
- Ability to grow into more complex prosecutorial assignments, including juvenile, felony, or civil commitment matters
Compensation
Salary: $6,833.33
