- 50% paid on the next regularly scheduled pay date after the first day of employment

Position Summary
This is a full-time, experienced legal position representing the State of Washington in the prosecution of felony cases in Superior Court or Juvenile Court, including complex or serious criminal matters. The position also involves occasional prosecution of high-level misdemeanor cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Review law enforcement reports and determine appropriate criminal charges
- Manage and prioritize a high-volume felony caseload
- Develop prosecution strategies and negotiate plea agreements
- Prepare witnesses and present cases at all stages of criminal proceedings
- Advise law enforcement during investigations, including assistance with warrants
- Prepare and file legal documents and manage appeals
- Collaborate with other prosecutors on complex or sensitive cases
- Represent Pend Oreille County in Superior Court and Juvenile Court proceedings
Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association
- Minimum of three (3) years of legal practice (criminal trial experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of criminal law, criminal procedure, legal research, and trial/appellate processes
- Proven trial, negotiation, and case management skills
- Ability to manage high-pressure, high-impact cases
- U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association
- Minimum of three (3) years of legal practice (criminal trial experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of criminal law, criminal procedure, legal research, and trial/appellate processes
- Excellent trial, negotiation, and case management skills
- Ability to handle complex and high-profile cases
Compensation
Salary: $8,333.32
