Program Summary:
Supports the implementation and expansion of mentoring programs for youth impacted by opioid and other substance use, including those currently using substances, at risk of use, or with family members affected. Mentoring services may include one-on-one, group, or peer mentoring. Up to 20% of funds may be used for non-mentoring direct services such as:
• Mental health treatment
• Substance use treatment
• Other supportive services aligned with the mentoring model
Applicants must partner with a licensed/accredited substance use treatment agency and demonstrate at least 2 years of experience delivering structured mentoring services.
Program Categories:
Category 1: Local Project Sites
• Award Ceiling: $650,000
• Focus: Local mentoring services integrated with prevention, treatment, and recovery support
Category 2: Statewide and Regional Projects
• Award Ceiling: $1,980,000
• Focus: Broad-based mentoring capacity building across regions or states, especially rural areas
Eligibility:
Eligible applicants include:
• State and local governments
• Federally recognized tribal governments
• Independent school districts
• Public and private institutions of higher education
• Nonprofit organizations (with or without 501(c)(3) status)
• For-profit organizations (excluding small businesses)
• National organizations and those with statewide reach providing mentoring services
