Program Summary:
Supports mentoring organizations in enhancing and expanding services for children and youth who are at risk or high risk for delinquency, victimization, and juvenile justice system involvement. The program is divided into three categories based on geographic reach:
• Category 1: Mentoring in 1 state, with expansion to a new jurisdiction or state
• Category 2: Mentoring in 2–10 states
• Category 3: Mentoring in 11–44 states
All applicants must implement a structured, standalone mentoring program and demonstrate at least 3 years of operational history. Services may include:
• One-on-one, group, or peer mentoring
• Recruitment and training of mentors
• Program enhancements aligned with evidence-based practices
• Outreach to underserved youth populations
Eligibility:
Eligible applicants include:
• State and local governments
• Tribal governments and organizations
• School districts
• Public and private institutions of higher education
• Nonprofit organizations (with or without 501(c)(3) status)
Applicants must be the headquarters office of the mentoring organization or curriculum and must demonstrate ownership of the mentoring model.
