APA Domestic Violence Homicide Roundtable

Tuesday, April 21, 2026 (10:00 AM - 4:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

This roundtable will focus on domestic violence homicides in cases where victims had little or no prior engagement with the criminal justice system or victim services. In these situations, traditional intervention points such as prosecution, protection orders, or court-based advocacy were never activated before the homicide occurred. The session will create space for prosecutors, victim advocates, researchers, and community organizations to examine this challenge and identify opportunities for prevention.

Participants will work together to surface patterns and gaps in knowledge, identify research needs, and explore strategies that can strengthen early identification, cross-sector coordination, and prevention efforts before violence escalates. The discussion is intended to support the development of research partnerships and practical approaches that jurisdictions can test and refine over time. Space is limited to encourage a focused, working dialogue among participants.
