Join us for a presentation on the unique role of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner and their specialized training to care for sexual assault survivors in emergency departments, conduct evidence collection, provide access to emergency contraception, and testify at trial. Dr. Colleen Cowdery, an emergency room physician at Oregon Health and Science University, School of Medicine, will discuss how emergency contraceptives work and their importance for sexual assault survivors. Alexis Rachel, RN, a forensic nurse examiner and coordinator for the Morris County Prosecutor's Office in New Jersey, will discuss SANEs and caring for sexual assault survivors.
